This week, we share with you the magical world of Ka’Ra Kersey, a  Bay Area-based artist whose ethereal voice,  hypnotizing sound and unexpected beat drop will elicit all the feels. Follow Ka’Ra on Facebook, Twitter and Soundcloud.

I’ve been singing professionally since I was 12 years old.

Dream musical collaboration:

Jah9 or Gregory Isaacs.

If I could open up for one artist it would be:

Erykah Badu.

Only seems appropriate to ask–what are your intentions?

My greatest intention and mission in life is to create positive healing music for our present and our future generation! I wrote this song ultimately to check in with ourselves. What are your intentions? What are you trying to grow and manifest within self? Many of us run from our trauma, so I created this song to check in and really ask how are you doing???

How do you navigate motherhood and artistry?

Meditating, being in nature, communicating and listening to self.  Taking breaks from social activities. I have a strong mother who helps me when I need a break.

How do you Wear Your Voice?

I wear my voice by singing about Life and what the people grow through.

Anything else you want WYV readers to know?
Yes, December 21st, the first day of Winter Solstice I will be releasing a reggae EP of about 2- 3 songs. These songs are very old reggae songs that never really got huge or mainstream. I wanted to honor these artists/songs because their powerful messages were created to heal our mind, body, and soul.
